RABAT, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- A total of 147 illegal immigrants were rescued off Morocco's Mediterranean and the Atlantic coasts in the past 24 hours, the Moroccan navy said on Monday.
Most of them are from sub-Saharan African countries, and 10 from Asia, the official news agency MAP reported.
They were traveling in several inflatable boats in the Strait of Gibraltar, trying to reach Europe.
The rescued received the first aid from the navy units, and were brought to different Moroccan ports, the report added.
Morocco has become a transit country for African migrants seeking to reach Europe.
