NV PLGU continues to give aid to hog growers affected by ASF

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Jan. 25 (PIA) - The provincial government here continue to provide help to hog raisers who were affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) disease in the province.

Dr. Cristopher Seraspi, provincial veterinarian said they have already spent P5.4 million in cash assistance to the affected hog growers as counterpart for the culled pigs since the province felt the outbreak in March 2020.

He said a total of 2,909 pigs were already culled within 12 municipalities in the province.

"Our ASF-free towns are Bambang, Dupax Del Sur and Alfonso Castaneda as of the moment since no reported case has been made," Seraspi said.

He said they continue to monitor the ASF-affected areas within 500 meter - radius for disinfection and testing outside the 500 meter - radius for possible outbreak.

According to Seraspi, 471 hog growers in the province were already affected but received assistance from the provincial government and the Department of Agriculture (DA). (MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
