Wanted man Mngqithi keen to remain at Sundowns

04 Apr 2020, 23:42 GMT+10

Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi says he is keen to remain with the club amid interest from a number of PSL teams.

Mngqithi has previously managed Golden Arrows, Chippa United and AmaZulu, while also assisting "Shakes" Mashaba with the South African Olympic team, before becoming Pitso Mosimane's right hand-man.

He joined 'Downs in 2014 and has gone on to win the Absa Premiership four times, the Telkom Knockout twice, as well as the CAF Champions League title and a CAF Super Cup.

This season the club are chasing a domestic treble. With the Telkom Knockout already in the bag there is still the Nedbank Cup and the league to fight for.

Speaking to Independent Media, Mngqithi said: "Yes, it is true that there are teams that make approaches here and there.

"I really appreciate that because it is a sign of confidence in what I do or what I'm capable of."

He added: "At this stage I have no plan and I'm not even thinking of leaving Sundowns and go somewhere.

"That will come at a certain point that maybe I should go and pursue my career somewhere else. I hold a strong belief that loyalty is important and for now Sundowns have my loyalty.

"I still have unfinished business with Sundowns. I still want to achieve more with Sundowns like the MTN8 which I haven't won with the club. I want to be part of the technical team that won everything with Sundowns."
