FARC rebel arrested in Spain
The Africa News.Net Saturday 26th July, 2008
Police in Spain have arrested the suspected leader of Colombia's FARC rebels in Spain.
The woman arrested, a 57 year old, is accused of raising funds for the rebels.
She was detained in a small town northwest of Madrid, where she was living.
She was tracked down in Spain after her name was found on a laptop computer belonging to FARC commander Raul Reyes, who was killed in a raid by Colombian troops in Ecuador in March.
Spain and Colombia recently agreed to strengthen their collaboration in the fight against armed groups.
The two countries suspect that the FARC rebels have contacts with the Basque separatist group ETA.
